| Dear Friends,
Colossians 3:15b encourages us with these simple words, “…And be thankful.” At the Denver Rescue Mission, we are very thankful for several things this Thanksgiving holiday season, especially during these difficult economic times. Let me share just some of them with you:
1. An increase of nearly 100,000 in the number of meals we were able to provide to hungry people this year over last year.
2. The opportunity to provide more nights of shelter than ever before to hurting people.
3. The increase in the number of committed and compassionate volunteers who unselfishly and joyfully keep coming to serve at the Mission.
4. The opportunity to partner with other nonprofits, the City of Denver, our neighbors, businesses, churches, and foundations to reach more of the growing number of homeless people.
5. Our donors, who continue to give so generously, enabling us to meet the expanding needs.
6. The men, women and children whose lives are changed by the power of Jesus Christ. They are able to break the cycle of poverty and oppression they have been living in and become productive, self-sufficient citizens.
7. My fellow staff members, who work tirelessly with all who come to us for help, because they believe people matter—that God loves people and has a purpose for their lives.
When you sit down for your Thanksgiving dinner, please remember us in your prayers for God’s continued provision of His ministry here at the Denver Rescue Mission. But most of all, thank Him that we are able to continue to meet the needs of our brothers and sisters who come to us for help. Thankfully, together we are making a difference!
Happy Thanksgiving!
